Managing Director

Method's Managing Director is responsible for executing the company's global strategic directives within his/her local studio, while delivering studio performance targets and program delivery objectives. He/she is charged with management of the office P&L as well as management of client relationships, staff oversight, and quality of work. He/she reports to Method's General Manager and is responsible for day-to-day financial and operational management objectives.

Method's MD is a dynamic leader and builder with a proven ability to work well cross-functionally with team leaders across disciplines. He/she must have a proven track record of success with client management, new business wins, organic client growth, retention and innovative partnership models. The right candidate brings a can-do attitude and an entrepreneurial approach. He/she will be an ambassador of Method's culture inside the company and externally.

Responsibilities:

Studio Performance/Management:

  • Ensures productive and efficient studio resource management
  • Fosters creative and professional environment, promoting continual development of staff
  • Ambassador/steward of the Studio's culture
  • Partners with and provides guidance to other leaders within studio to foster Method's culture and growth
  • Leads the integration of individual employee goals with studio goals
  • Identifies and articulates professional skill and capability gaps in the studio
  • Partners with discipline leadership and Recruitment to assess needs for additional talent and participate in key hiring interviews
  • In collaboration with the Director of Business Development, supports a healthy business development pipeline, keeping the studio busy and winning work
  • Ensures highest quality of proposals (approach, price estimations, risk mitigation)
  • Hands-on participation with pitches

Operational/Financial Management:

  • Formulate consistent operating plans, strategy and tactics to achieve profitability, growth in line with global objectives
  • Provides leadership and guidance to studio leadership to execute growth plans across disciplines and offerings to achieve financial targets
  • Reviews approves studio's financial decisions Contracts, NDAs, SOWs, etc.
  • Conducts regular reviews to ensure accountability for performance vs plan, ensuring local studio exceeds top-line, bottom-line and margin objectives
  • Drives revenue and top-line growth through the strategic targeting of profitable accounts and industry verticals in the region

Employee Development:

  • Fosters positive creative work environment that encourages development, nurtures ideas and provides breadth of experience
  • Stewards career goals and growth and development of talent

  • Motivates talent via check-ins, group meetings, performance reviews, recognition opportunities and incentive programs
  • Manages staffing needs both internally and externally

Requirements:

  • Prior experience demonstrates effective decision making and executive-level communication skills that inspires teams within creatively driven environment
  • 10+ years of comparable management experience including new business development, P&L management experience and strong ability to lead process
  • Demonstrated Client Relationship/Account Management experience developing outbound strategy for new business development
  • Ability to ensure consistency and best practices across all projects; strong organizational and program/project management skills
  • Business strategy and proven ability to develop and maintain high level professional relationships
  • Broad and deep financial and operational management skills
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire integrated teams of professionalsSolid ability to manage both up and down
  • Ability to present with style; lead with gravitas; roll up sleeves as necessary
  • Grounded in clear communication written/verbal
  • Entrepreneurial fire in the belly
  • Credible leader who wins the confidence of employees and industry-at-large
  • Bachelors degree required, Masters preferred
